Who is Larry Storch?

Lawrence Samuel Storch (born January 8, 1923) is a retired American actor and comedian best known for his comedy television performances, including voice-over work for cartoon shows like Tennessee Tuxedo and His Tales and his live-action role as bumbling Corporal Randolph Agarn on F Troop.

Alfred Storch, a broker, and Sally Kupperman Storch, a telephone operator, raised Storch in New York City. His parents were devout Jews who raised him in a Jewish home.  Don Adams, who remained his lifelong companion, was his classmate at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx.

Storch said he never finished high school because of the Great Depression, instead working as a stand-up comedy at the band shell in Sheepshead Bay for $12 a week, opening for bandleader Al Donahue.

He served in the US Navy during WWII, on the submarine tender USS Proteus, alongside Tony Curtis (AS-19)With Forrest Tucker, Ken Berry, and Melody Patterson, he played conniving Corporal Randolph Agarn on the situation comedy F Troop (1965–1967).

On the short-lived but popular Saturday morning children’s show The Ghost Busters, Storch co-starred alongside Bob Burns (who was costumed as a gorilla) and Forrest Tucker in 1975. Larry was also a semi-regular on Car 54, Where Are You?, and was Al Bundy’s boyhood hero on Married… with Children (Al Bundy’s daughter Kelly attended an acting school run by Larry).

On the short-lived sitcom The Queen and I, he appeared as a co-star. Storch is an impressionist who can imitate hundreds of accents and dialects, from Muhammad Ali to Claude Rains. For cartoons, this has been quite handy.

In addition to The Pink Panther Show, Groovie Goolies, The Inspector, The Brady Kids, Cool Cat, Koko the Clown, Treasure Island, and Tennessee Tuxedo, he has voiced characters in several television and cinema animations.

At Warner Bros.-Seven Arts, Storch voiced characters including Merlin the Magic Mouse and Cool Cat alongside Mel Blanc and June Foray. He remained a voiceover actor for Filmation in various programmes and films, notably Journey Back to Oz, in which he voiced Aunt Em and Uncle Henry’s farmhand Amos.
