Who is Lauren Jauregui?

Lauren Jauregui Morgado, sometimes known simply as Lauren Michelle Jauregui, was born in the United States on June 27, 1996. She is a singer and composer. She gained widespread recognition when she was a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, which went on to become one of the most successful girl groups of all time. Jauregui started experimenting with a variety of genres and exploring solo songwriting at the same time as she began working on tracks with Marian Hill, Steve Aoki, and Halsey. In October of 2018, she made her debut as a solo artist with the release of the song “Expectations” on Columbia Records. Michael Jauregui and Clara Morgado, both originally from Cuba, welcomed their son Jauregui into the world on June 27, 1996, in the city of Miami, Florida.

When Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba, her mother and father emigrated to the United States. Her mother was a teacher, while her father was a factory manager. Jauregui’s family roots are mostly Cuban, with some Spanish as well. Jauregui, the oldest of three siblings, went to a Catholic school that accepted students of both sexes from pre-kindergarten all the way to sixth grade. After that, she received a merit scholarship to attend Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami, which is a Catholic all-girls high school that prepares students for college. She was enrolled in the school’s International Baccalaureate program, and she also took part in the school’s talent show and played on the softball team.

Throughout her time at school, Jauregui found an outlet for her creativity in the form of the arts. She found delight in “constantly creating,” whether it be via singing, writing, dancing, choreographing, playing the piano, or painting. At the time, Jauregui was just 15 years old when she tried out for the second season of The X Factor in the United States. She had to go through four rounds of preliminary auditions before she was able to participate in the televised audition in front of the judges when she was 16 years old. Alicia Keys’s “If I Ain’t Got You” was the song that Jauregui chose to sing during her audition.

Her audition was deemed “perfect” by judge Antonio Reid, who praised Jauregui’s “husky, round, mature” voice. After receiving positive feedback from the previous round’s judges, she moved on to the subsequent round. She was pitted against the country group Sister C and their song “These Arms of Mine” during the second round of the boot camp competition. After being ousted from the competition as a solo artist, Lauren Jauregui was called back and placed in a group with Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane, and Camila Cabello.

This group would eventually become known as Fifth Harmony. Jauregui’s other members were Normani, Dinah Jane, and Camila Cabello. The group made it all the way to the championship round and ended up placing third overall. May 2016 saw the release of Fifth Harmony’s second studio album, titled 7/27. The debut song from the album, titled “Work From Home,” peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 list, and it also made it into the top 10 on numerous other foreign charts. “Work From Home” made history by being the first single from a female group in the last eight years to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In August 2017, the group released its third studio album, titled Fifth Harmony. This was their first album as a quartet after Camila Cabello’s departure in December 2016. This album was the first time that the band was allowed to collaborate on writing songs for an album and have some say in the overall artistic direction of an album. It was revealed in March 2018 that the band will be disbanding for an indeterminate period of time so that each member may develop as an artist and pursue unique goals.

After the group’s second album was released, Jauregui kept working with Fifth Harmony while still pursuing a career as a solo songwriter. Meanwhile, the other members of the group focused on separate projects outside of the group as well. In December 2016, she worked with Marian Hill on their single “Back to Me.” This was Jauregui’s first release outside of Fifth Harmony and marked the beginning of their collaboration. Jauregui has said that it was an “honor” to be able to “form a genuine connection” with the pair and compose for the song. He also stated that the song provided “a snippet of my vibe for the first time in collaboration with them.”

Samantha Gongol of Marian Hill said that the pair and Jauregui had been yearning to work together ever since they met at one of Marian Hill’s gigs more than a year ago. They finished the song with her in the little time she had outside of her busy schedule with Fifth Harmony, and they released it.

Jeremy Lloyd of Marian Hill said that Jauregui informed them that she had written her poem just five minutes before she was due to record it and that she “nailed the rhyme scheme and did so probably more quickly and deftly than we could have done.” In addition, Lloyd praised the harmonies written by Jauregui, remarking that she had “an incredible ear for harmony.”AfterEllen’s readers chose Jauregui as their pick for the year’s sexiest lady, and she topped the list of the top 100 most attractive people on the website.

Fifth Harmony signed with the record labels Syco Music, owned by Simon Cowell, and Epic Records, owned by L.A. Reid, in January 2013. After Jauregui quit school to focus on her career with Fifth Harmony, she subsequently completed the requirements for her high school graduation by studying independently at home. In October 2013, the band issued their first extended play titled Better Together. In January 2015, they released their first studio album, titled Reflection.

Was urged to Jauregui by her bandmates that she go to Florida, so she did not take part in the marketing for the release of Reflection, which was the day after her grandmother passed away on the day the album was released. Their biggest peak on the list to date was achieved by the third song from the album titled “Worth It.” It reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band further provided the song “I’m in Love with a Monster” for the score of the 2015 animated feature Hotel Transylvania 2, which was released with a soundtrack. At the celebration honoring women in music held by Billboard in December 2015, Fifth Harmony was presented with the “Group of the Year” award.

Her song “More Than That” was released to the public in January 2019. Jauregui’s song “Invisible Chains” was used on the soundtrack for the movie Birds of Prey, and in March of the same year, the Latin urban song “Lento” created by Tainy was made available for purchase. The song titled “50ft” was published by her in April 2020. The extended play titled “Prelude” by Jauregui was published in November of 2021.
