Who is Lauren Conrad?

Lauren Conrad is an American television personality, fashion designer, and author. She was born on February 1, 1986, in the United States. She first came to public attention in September 2004, when she was recruited in the reality television series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. The show followed her and her friends as they went about their daily lives in Laguna Beach, California, where they grew up. Jim, an architect, and Kathy welcomed their son Conrad into the world on February 1, 1986, and the happy event took place at Laguna Beach, California.

She is the older sister of Breanna, who is also a television personality, and the younger sister of Brandon, who is also her younger sibling. When Conrad was in the sixth grade, she made her first public declaration of interest in pursuing a career in the fashion business.  Conrad’s father said that throughout her upbringing, his daughter “wasn’t a brilliant student and wasn’t very interested.” Nevertheless, he did mention that “we realized out along the line that she was an artist and her genuine passion was fashion.”

Conrad went to high school in Laguna Beach, California, where she was classmates with Kate Bosworth, Kristin Cavallari, and Stephen Colletti, among other future cast members. In 2004, the two of them had starring roles in the MTV reality television series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which captured their lives while they were still in high school. At the time that film was being made, she was often referred to by the initialism “L.C.,” despite the fact that she has subsequently said that she dislikes being called by that moniker.

The television show was a commercial and critical success for the network; she said that the manner of living that the show required of her was “certainly a different way to grow up.” The first season of the show was notable for its attention on the love triangle that consisted of Conrad, Cavallari, and Colletti, as well as the following hatred that developed between Conrad and Cavallari.  Conrad made an appearance on an episode of MTV Cribs after the first season of the show had come to a close.  Conrad went to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for one semester after her graduation from high school in 2004.

It was at this time that she became acquainted with Heidi Montag.  Conrad departed the show following the conclusion of the second season. During this time, she relocated back to her hometown and enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles; however, she did not complete her studies there and did not get a degree.  Conrad made her first appearance on the series as a guest star during the third season in the year 2006, which was after her sister Breanna was cast in a major role.

Shortly after Lauren Conrad and her roommate Heidi Montag relocated to Los Angeles in 2005, the spin-off series The Hills was created to document their new lives in the city, along with those of their mutual friends Whitney Port and Audrina Patridge.  During the filming of the first season, Conrad and Port both took internships with Teen Vogue. These internships were supervised by Lisa Love, the editor of West Coast Vogue; she noted that they had to successfully interview for the jobs “regardless of what the cameras desired.”

By the time the second season rolled around, Lauren’s relationship with Heidi had been strained ever since Montag started dating Spencer Pratt.  Shortly after Montag found a new home with Pratt, Patridge and Lo Bosworth found themselves sharing Conrad’s apartment as housemates. Conrad expressed interest in departing the series at the completion of the fourth season of The Hills in December 2008 so that he might seek other options in his professional life.  Despite this, the producers requested that she shoot 10 episodes for the next season, in which she would wrap her stories. She complied with their demands and shot these episodes.

Conrad made her last appearance on the series in May of 2009 when she attended Montag and Pratt’s wedding after much consideration during the mid-season finale of the fifth season. The wedding took place after Montag and Pratt had been engaged for a long time. Nevertheless, in the issue of Cosmopolitan published in July 2009, she revealed that producers had pressed her into a reunion with Montag throughout the season. She added that she was dissatisfied when they would not allow any other outcome and that this made her angry. Kristin Cavallari, a former cast member of Laguna Beach, took over for Conrad and remained in the role until the series’ cancellation in July 2010.

In September of 2010, it was planned that Conrad would appear in an MTV series that would have centered on her professional accomplishments. However, the network decided against picking up the show when Conrad expressed her desire to not have her personal life filmed for the series.

During the same month, Conrad disclosed to the public that she and Jenner had shot an alternative conclusion to The Hills.  MTV broadcasted the video in August 2013, after the completion of their “RetroMTV Brunch” morning marathon, which lasted for a whole month and was named after the series.

After accompanying Cavallari in her vehicle as she departed for Europe, the image shows Jenner making his way back to his apartment. It is then seen that Conrad is sitting on his sofa, and he consoles him by saying that “it’s hard to say goodbye” to a “friend of,” before the focus of the camera shifts to show Conrad smiling. During the same month, she said that she would be interested in appearing in a film adaptation of a prospective reunion.

In October of that year, Conrad and her close friend Hannah Skvarla launched the e-commerce platform known as The Little Market. The company sells items that are handcrafted by women from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.  Montag said in December 2013 that she and Conrad had “spoken a few times” since the end of the series, expanding on the statement by saying, “It’s terrible things ended the way that it did, but we’re both different people now, older and more mature.”

Conrad severed her friendship with Montag during the third season after she became suspicious that Montag and Pratt were responsible for the rumors that a sex tape involving herself and her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler existed; the subsequent feud continued through each subsequent season in which Conrad appeared.

Throughout the course of the series, Conrad had a brief romantic relationship with another cast member named Brody Jenner. She later said that the relationship had been “edited to stretch it out”

Conrad was named the first-ever spokesman for Avon Products’ “mark.” brand, which is targeted at young women, in January of 2007. Actress Ashley Greene took over for Conrad as the line’s spokeswoman in June of 2010.  In the same year, Conrad had a cameo appearance in the comedy film Epic Movie, co-starring opposite Carmen Electra as a parody of herself. Conrad and Port started working as interns for Kelly Cutrone’s public relations business, People’s Revolution, in the year 2008.

After that, Conrad relocated to Los Angeles in order to launch a career in the fashion sector there. She was given her own spin-off series called The Hills, and from 2006 through 2009, she appeared in five out of the show’s six seasons. At the time that it was being made, she also attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and worked as an intern for Teen Vogue and Kelly Cutrone’s public relations business, People’s Revolution. Later in her career, Conrad established the fashion labels LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown, and she also co-founded the online fair trade business The Little Market. She has a total of nine novels out in the world, two of which are trilogies: L.A. Candy and The Fame Game.
