In the third season of Supergirl, Durance took on another DC Comics role, replacing Laura Benanti in the part of Alura Zor-El, which Benanti had played in the previous season. In addition, Durance appeared in a cameo as the Lois Lane of Earth-167 during the Crisis on Infinite Earths Crossover in the Arrowverse. Erica Durance started up her acting career by moving to Vancouver, where she quickly landed roles in several television programs. She made her debut on the big screen in the action-adventure The Untold, which was directed by Jonas Quastel and based on a real event (2002, a.k.a. Sasquatch, starring Lance Henriksen and Andrea Roth).

During continued her cinematic career the following year with Uwe Boll’s horror thriller House of the Dead, in which she played the supporting character of Johanna in a smaller capacity. Durance appeared in the film with Jurgen Prochnow, Clint Howard, Ellie Cornell, Ona Grauer, and Jonathan Cherry. Mark A. Altman and Dan Bates wrote the screenplay for the movie. In the same year, Durance also appeared as Kara Jensen in the television movie adaptation of the action drama directed by Gilbert M. Shilton and starring Joe Lando and Nicole Eggert. Shilton directed Devil Winds.

After establishing herself in the film industry, Durance received invitations to appear as a guest star on a number of television programs, including The Chris Isaak Show, the adolescent science fiction drama Tru Calling (starring Eliza Dushku), Andromeda (starring Kevin Sorbo), and Entertainment Tonight. She also had roles in episodes of “Extra,” “The Collector,” and the long-running science fiction series Stargate SG-1, in which Richard Dean Anderson played the lead role. “The Collector” starred Chris Kramer.

When Durance first came to the public’s notice, she was playing the recurrent character of young Lois Lane on the popular adolescent show Smallville, which aired on the WB. She was cast as a guest star on the program during its fourth season (2004-2005), during which she appeared in 13 of the show’s 22 episodes. After the Smallville season in 2011, Erica was cast as the main female leading lady Alex Reid in the Canadian medical drama Saving Hope. This show has now been picked up as a fall drama series on the Canadian network known as CTV. In addition to that, Erica serves as the show’s executive producer. In the 2011 version of Charlie’s Angels on ABC, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Erica appeared as a CIA Operative by the name of Samantha Masters in a special guest starring role.

Additionally, she appeared as a guest star in an episode of David E. Kelley’s NBC show Harry’s Law on January 11, 2012, playing the role of a lady who believes that she is Wonder Woman. Durance, a vocalist with a background in classical music which was active in choirs and amateur productions of musicals, was married not long after graduating from high school. Because she wanted to pursue a profession in acting, she and her husband relocated to Vancouver.

She began her acting career in advertisements, then moved on to little roles in television shows and movies released directly to DVD until obtaining a supporting role in the horror film House of the Dead directed by Uwe Boll (2003). In these early appearances, she is credited as Erica Parker, but, in 2004, after her divorce from her first husband in 1999, she returned to using her maiden name.

When she gained the notice of model scout and agency Jeff Palffy, she found that opportunities were beginning to present themselves to her. In 2004, she had appearances in “The Chris Isaak Show,” “Tru Calling,” “Andromeda,” and “Stargate SG-1,” which culminated in her getting cast as Lois Lane on “Smallville.” That year, she achieved something of a breakthrough in her career. She met her second husband, David Palffy, on the set of “Stargate SG-1,” who is also the brother of her manager, Jeff Palffy, and the creator of the Yaletown Actor’s Lab. Jeff Palffy was also her first husband.

Both the actor and the drama coach assisted her in honing her acting talents during the course of their relationship, which culminated in their marriage in 2005. Her eight seasons on “Smallville,” which tells the coming-of-age experiences of a young Clark Kent and other Superman characters, made Durance a fanboy favorite and a fixture on men’s magazine covers and “sexiest women in the world” lists. “Smallville,” tells the story of the coming-of-age experiences of a young Clark Kent and other Superman characters.

After co-starring in the sci-fi thriller The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006), she stepped into leading lady status with a series of TV movies, including the Lifetime movie “I Me Wed” (2008), for which she was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series, and “Beyond Sherwood Forest” (2009), in which she starred as Maid Marian. Both of these movies earned her nominations for the Gemini Award for Best Performance.

She made fun of her comic-book nerd image by portraying a lady in an episode of David E. Kelley’s “Harry’s Law” who is persuaded that she is Wonder Woman. After that, she developed her own star vehicle, the supernatural medical drama “Saving Hope,” starring as the lead role. Durance received a nomination for a Canadian Screen Award (previously known as a Gemini) for her lead role in the first season of the television show that was produced by CTV and also aired on NBC in the United States.
