Who is Sam Witwer?

Sam Witwer is a well-known American actor who was born on October 20, 1977. It was in the roles of Crashdown in Battlestar Galactica, Davis Bloome in Smallville, Aidan Waite in Being Human, Mr. Hyde in Once Upon a Time, Ben Lockwood in Supergirl, and Rupert Chipping in Riverdale that he gained the most of his fame. Witwer’s first appearance in front of the camera was for a commercial for the Chicago Bulls. Soon after that, he was cast in speaking parts on critically acclaimed television shows such as ER. Sam is a dedicated player of tabletop role-playing games as well as those played on video games. He has spent a lot of time throughout the years pursuing this activity as a pastime. He has been a frequent guest on the podcast Order 66, and he has expressed a love for all iterations of Star Wars role-playing games, ranging from Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game to Star Wars Roleplaying Game (by Wizards of the Coast) and to the series of cross-compatible Star Wars roleplaying games by Fantasy Flight Games.

Sam made an appearance as Mordenkainen in episodes 29 and 55 of Dice Camera Action. He also played the part of Mordenkainen in episode 19 of Geek and Sundry’s Tabletop, in which he played the Dragon Age role-playing game. Witwer, a lifetime Star Wars enthusiast, lent both his voice and likeness to the protagonist character Galen Marek / Starkiller in the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which was released in 2008, and its sequel, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, which was released in 2010. Both games were developed by Electronic Arts. However, in 2019, the role was re-dubbed by Ian McDiarmid, who portrayed Palpatine in the films and in Rebels season 4; he was the original voice actor for Darth Sidious in the first game, and he reprised it for the games Disney Infinity 3.0 and Battlefront, as well as for the original season 2 premiere of Star Wars Rebels.

Witwer had also vocally played the Son in a three-episode narrative arc known as the Mortis trilogy in season 3 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Additionally, he voiced the legendary former Sith Maul in the season 4 finale episodes, four episodes of season 5, and the “Siege of Mandalore” arc in season 7 of the show. In addition, he provided his voice for Maul in a number of other projects, including the Star Wars: Episode I Brisk commercial, the Cartoon Network special Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out, and Star Wars Rebels once again. On September 27, 2012, a feature-length “director’s cut” of Witwer’s episodes from the season 4 finale of The Clone Wars was released as a direct-to-video film titled Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Darth Maul Returns. The film was first made available at Target only.

Along with several of his co-stars, including James Arnold Taylor, Tom Kane, Daniel Logan, Stephen Stanton, and Ashley Eckstein, as well as Supervising Director Dave Filoni, Witwer was present at the red carpet premiere of The Clone Wars season 5 in Orlando, Florida on August 24, 2012, during Celebration VI. Witwer was joined at the event by Supervising Director Dave Filoni. On August 26, 2012, he participated in his very own panel titled “Sam Witwer: The Maul Within” which was held at the Celebration VI convention. Fans applauded him for his performances in The Force Unleashed games and on The Clone Wars when he visited Star Wars Weekends for the first time in 2013.  The event takes place annually at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, and lasts for a weekend. Sam put on a good performance for the audience at the live show “Behind the Force” by reciting one or two lines from each of the roles that he has performed in the Star Wars universe.

During the assault on Maz Kanata’s castle in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Witwer also provided the voice of an alien, in addition to that of a First Order soldier. Witwer had his debut live-action performance as Maul in 2018, the same year he reprised his role as Maul and performed the voice acting job for the character in Solo: A Star Wars Story. This is the sixth production in which Witwer portrays Maul and the first time he has appeared in a live-action version of the character.

Witwer was cast in the role of an unknown dark side villain in the StarWarsKids.com and YouTube game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, which launched on June 3, 2020. The program was produced in the year 2020. In January 2017, he participated as a guest on a play-through of ScratchPad Publishing’s Dusk City Outlaws, with Elisa Teague, Tom Lommel, Spencer Crittenden, and game creator Rodney Thompson. The game was played by Elisa Teague, Tom Lommel, and Spencer Crittenden.

Although he attributes most of his present success to his performance as Neil Perry on the Showtime series Dexter, Witwer’s first significant recurring role was as the raptor pilot ‘Crashdown’ on Battlestar Galactica. However, he has said that his portrayal as Neil Perry on Dexter was largely responsible for his popularity. Witwer also had a role in the movie The Mist as the character Private Wayne Jessup.

Witwer was cast in the role of Davis Bloome, a pleasant paramedic who suffers from the darkness inside as he is the human disguise of Doomsday, in the eighth season of the television show Smallville, which aired from 2008 to 2009. Witwer performed the role of Davis, while stuntman Dario Delacio took on the role of Doomsday. Witwer’s turn as Clark Kent on the CW’s Smallville was very well received, and the actor has indicated that his time spent working on the show has provided him with more opportunities to pursue a career in acting in the years to come. Witwer’s contract provided him with the opportunity to reprise his role as Zod in season 9, but he eventually decided against doing so. Despite the fact that he thought his time on the program was fun and that he was pleased by the invitation to remain on, he decided against accepting the job because he believed it would be difficult for both the characters and the audience to accept.

In the episode “Days Gone Bye” from season 1 of The Walking Dead, Witwer had a cameo appearance as a dead zombie soldier riding in a tank. This performance brought him back together with director Frank Darabont, who he worked with on The Mist. Coincidentally, in 2019, he went on to represent the primary protagonist in a video game called Days Gone, which, like The Walking Dead, deals with the subject of a zombie apocalypse.

Witwer has lent his voice and likeness to a number of characters in the Star Wars property, the first of which was Starkiller in the video game series Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Witwer has since worked on a number of other projects related to the Star Wars brand. After then, he became known for providing the voice of Darth Maul in the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, in addition to the film Solo: A Star Wars Story. In The Clone Wars and Rebels, respectively, he has also provided his voice for the character of the Son and Emperor Palpatine. In the video game Days Gone, developed by Bend Studio, Witwer played the role of Deacon St. John, the game’s protagonist, using motion capture.
