Who is Ray Anthony?

Ray Anthony is an American bandleader, trumpeter, songwriter, and actor who’d been born on January 20, 1922.He is the only member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra who has survived. Anthony was born in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, to an Italian family, but moved to Cleveland, Ohio, with his family to study the trumpet.

Before joining the United States Navy during World War II, he was a member of Glenn Miller’s band from 1940 to 1941and starred in the Glenn Miller film Sun Valley Serenade. In 1957, Anthony and his orchestra recorded the music score for Julie Wilson’s film This Could Be The Night.They divorced in 1961 after van Doren filed for divorce in 1958, citing “cruelty.” He continued his musical career, though, and scored another hit with the Peter Gunn theme, which reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart.
