Who is Pat McAfee ?

Patrick Justin McAfee (born May 2, 1987) is a former American football punter, sports commentator, podcaster, and professional wrestler. He signed a multi-year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in December 2018, and the contract was formally inked in February 2019.

He presently works for the SmackDown brand as a color commentator. He was a placekicker at West Virginia and was taken in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. McAfee was an All-Pro in 2014 and made two Pro Bowls during his eight-year career in the National Football League (NFL).

McAfee has worked as a football and professional wrestling commentator since retiring from football in February 2017. In late 2018, he served as a guest anchor for Fox Sports’ college and NFL broadcasts before joining ESPN’s Thursday Night College Football crew in July 2019.

During 2018, he also appeared as a guest at WWE’s NXT TakeOver events before securing a contract in February 2019.McAfee is also a stand-up comedian who has been at events around Indiana and now has his own daily podcast after formerly hosting a program on CBS Sports Radio.

Career as a professional wrestler On March 22, 2009, a month before the NFL Draft, McAfee competed against The Warpig in an IWA East Coast event in South Charleston, West Virginia. Warpig had the upper hand for most of the bout, but McAfee snatched the win with a low blow and a superkick.

In March 2018, nine years later, McAfee returned to Indianapolis for an NXT show, when he stopped Adam Cole from winning by disqualification in his bout against Aleister Black. Instead, McAfee’s attention allowed Black to rebound and strike Cole with Black Mass, his finisher.

Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)Beginning with NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in 2018, McAfee started appearing on WWE television as a pre-show analyst for the company’s NXT TakeOver events, where he maintained his mini-feud with Adam Cole.

NXT TakeOver: Chicago II, NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4, and NXT TakeOver: WarGames was his next appearances. He reportedly signed a multi-year deal with WWE in December, and the contract was officially inked in February 2019. Beginning with Fastlane, he started conducting live watch-along of WWE pay-per-views on YouTube, with a number of WWE superstars.

McAfee, his team, and several special guests drove venue to venue in an RV during the build-up to WrestleMania, and his pal Zito got stranded beneath an awning, which was videotaped for Pat McAfee’s Road to WrestleMania. McAfee got into a confrontation with Michael Cole backstage at the event when Cole chastised him for wearing tuxedo shorts.

McAfee vowed to resign on the spot and was escorted to a different room while the problem was resolved. McAfee was permitted to co-host the second hour of the pre-show with Charly Caruso when Vince McMahon was shown a photograph of LeBron James during the 2018 NBA Finals, and the attire was identical to the one McAfee was wearing for WrestleMania.

McAfee made a guest appearance on SmackDown on November 1, 2019, as part of an on-air staff filling in for Cole and Graves (who were unable to return from Crown Jewel in time), where he fully supported NXT’s invasion of the show, storming the ring with the rest of the NXT roster at the end of the broadcast, declaring war on both Raw and SmackDown.

Cole was a guest on McAfee’s podcast on July 23, 2020. During the conversation, Cole grew enraged with him for claiming that The Undisputed Era was the basis for his success and that he could not have accomplished as much on his own since he was a little man.

Cole would finally cuss McAfee, destroy his microphone, shove his buddy, and walk out of the interview as a result of this. A few days later, Triple H appeared on McAfee’s podcast to invite him to an episode of NXT to hash things over with Cole.

On the August 5 edition of NXT, he looked to have reconciled with Cole. Later that night, while working as a guest commentator for an NXT tag team match between Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly of the Undisputed Era and Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel of Imperium, Cole noticed him at the commentary table and began insulting and attacking him, resulting in McAfee punting Cole in the head.

The next day, Triple H challenged McAfee to about at NXT TakeOver: XXX on Cole’s behalf, which he accepted. McAfee was defeated in his debut bout for WWE during the event. He hasn’t ruled out the possibility of competing in the ring in the future.

On October 21, 2020, he returned to NXT, interfering in a tag team championship match between Breezango (Fandango and Tyler Breeze) and Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan, resulting in Burch and Lorcan winning the NXT Tag Team Championship and aligning with McAfee, in which all three became heel.

Pete Dunne joined with McAfee a week later after seeming to assist Kyle O’Reilly in his fight against McAfee, Burch, and Lorcan. Team McAfee (McAfee, Dunne, Lorcan, and Burch) faced the Undisputed era in a WarGames match on December 6, 2020, at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2020.
