Matthew Chandler Fox is a well-known actor who was born in the United States on July 14, 1966. He is best recognized for his performances as Charlie Salinger on Party of Five (1994–2000) and Jack Shephard on Lost (2004–2010), the latter of which earned him nominations for both the Golden Globe Award and the Primetime Emmy Award. Fox has also performed in ten full-length motion pictures, some of which include We Are Marshall (2006), Vantage Point (2008), Alex Cross (2012), Emperor (2012), and Bone Tomahawk (2015).

Fox was born in Abington, Pennsylvania, and is the son of Loretta B. Fox. He began his career as a child actor in the television series Family Ties, in which he starred from 1998 to 2000. (née Eagono) and Francis G. Fox. His mother was of half-Italian and half-British ancestry, while his father came from a “very blue-blood” Pennsylvania family of mostly English descent. One of his paternal great-great-great-grandfathers was Union General George Meade.

His father was from a family in Pennsylvania that was known as “very blue blood.” Fox, the middle child of three boys, relocated to Wyoming with his parents and two older brothers, Francis Jr. (born in 1961) and Bayard, when he was just one year old (b. 1969).
