Who is Kelli Giddish?

Kelli Giddish, an American actress for television, theatre, and cinema, was born on April 13, 1980. She has portrayed NYPD Detective Amanda Rollins in the NBC drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit from 2011 until 2022. Giddish has previously portrayed Dr. Kate McGinn in the Fox criminal drama series Past Life, Annie Nolan Frost in the NBC crime drama series Chase, and Di Henry on the ABC serial opera All My Children. The birthplace of Giddish is Cumming, Georgia. Eli is her brother, and she is the daughter of Charles and Nita Giddish.  By taking her to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, her paternal grandfather encouraged her passion in performing.

Her maternal grandma gave her a lot of encouragement regarding her interests.  While attending Forsyth Central High School in Georgia, she developed close ties with Yatesy Harvey, a local theatre instructor who also maintained a community theatre and was a friend of her mother’s. Years ago, when she was still a young woman, Giddish took part in Yatesy Harvey’s sleepover theatre camps and performed in her plays. Harvey is credited with inspiring Giddish’s “ferocious curiosity and very high standards of what acting was and how much attention it took and rehearsing and we would do plays every night.”

Giddish received numerous honours when she was little. She was on the winning softball team at Forsyth Central while there, and in 1998 she won the State Literary Championship for Girls Theatrical Interpretation.  She later earned her degree in theatre performing from the University of Evansville in Indiana.  Giddish’s acting career got strong family support, with her parents travelling from Indiana to watch her perform in every college play. She relocated to New York City after graduation to further her acting career. She co-starred with Farrah Fawcett in a Broadway production a year after moving there.

From 2005 until 2007, Giddish played Diana Henry on the soap opera All My Children. Giddish and All My Children parted ways in a mutual choice, and Soap Opera Weekly magazine announced this in July 2007. On September 19, 2007, she will make her farewell appearance as Di. Giddish played Courtney in the online series The Burg and made an appearance in the suspense drama Death in Love, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. The same individuals who produced The Burg also produced All’s Faire, in which Giddish played Cindy.

In Fox’s reincarnation drama Past Life, Giddish, Nicholas Bishop, and Ravi Patel were cast as the main characters. The focus of the WBTV production was on past-life researchers. Giddish played a reincarnationist with a Ph.D. in psychology and cognitive research.  Fox had ordered Past Life to series, and it premiered midseason 2010 at 9:00 PM EST on Tuesdays, according to a May 18, 2009 announcement.  It debuted on February 9, 2010, and on February 18 it was cancelled. Giddish played rape victim Kara Bawson in the episode “Outsider” of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in January 2007.

On June 27, 2011, it was revealed that Danny Pino from Cold Case and Giddish would join the cast of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for the show’s thirteenth season, which would follow Christopher Meloni’s departure.During the summertime filming, Giddish stated to TV Guide that “everyone on the set is incredibly thrilled and energised. Chris Meloni’s departure has caused them to lose a member of their family, but they have been quite tolerant of us. Both Amanda and I are excited to be working with these people here.

Giddish made her acting debut as Detective Amanda Rollins in the “Scorched Earth” episode of the thirteenth season. The character initially collaborates with Detective Olivia Benson. Giddish described her character as being completely in awe of Olivia in an interview with TV Guide, adding that Amanda was eager to enter the room since she was both knowledgeable and eager to learn. She arrived in New York after leaving Atlanta since there was a ceiling there. Giddish expressed his delight about joining the 13th season of the show: “I couldn’t feel better about it.

There is no intimidation; rather, what drew me in was the possibility of revitalising a business that has long been well-known and well-liked and then becoming the shaker and mover in the industry. Giddish expressed optimism that Rollins and another new character, Nick Amaro , will eventually win over audiences. They will adore us, she predicts, because we won’t be shoving anything in their faces. “We’re hoping that the more you learn about us and see us in your living room, the more you’ll adore us.”

She commented on her first season of Law & Order: SVU at the conclusion of Season 13, stating that she and Pino had not only received a “very warm welcome” from the show’s cast and crew but also that their respective characters had been explored more than they could have hoped for in their debut season. I hope they offer me more next season since they’ve given me a lot to work with this season, adds Giddish. We’re still switching partners in’musical chairs,’ which is a terrific opportunity to explore the many roles.

As Meloni left the show, Giddish’s co-star Ice-T, who has played Detective Odafin Tutuola since the second season, commended both Giddish and Pino: “We had to rebuild, like a football squad,” he stated. We still needed to advance the ball down the field even after the quarterback changed. And we succeeded. Danny entered forcefully. Kelli entered with force. And we silenced the sceptics.  In “Solving For The Unknowns,” which premiered on April 16, 2020, Giddish’s character was elevated to detective for the 2nd grade.

Giddish’s final episode was “And a Tragedy in a Pear Tree” from season 24, episode 9, in which Rollins wed ADA Dominick Carisi Jr. and left the Special Victims Unit to assume a position as a professor at Fordham University. In the police procedural drama Chase, which made its NBC debut in the fall of 2010, Giddish played the lead role of U.S. Marshal Annie Frost. Giddish won praise for her performance as the series’ protagonist, but it was cancelled in early February 2011. NBC agreed to telecast five brand-new episodes of Chase on Saturday nights starting on April 23, 2011, on April 6, 2011.
