Who is John Tui?
John Tui is a Tongan-American actor who was born in New Zealand on June 11, 1975. He is well-known for his performances as Anubis “Doggie” Cruger in Power Rangers S.P.D. and Daggeron in Power Rangers Mystic Force, both of which were shot in his home country of New Zealand. Since then, he has shifted to acting in Hollywood productions like Hobbs & Shaw and Young Rock. Just a few weeks after her father unexpectedly passed away at work, a daughter tragically lost her battle with cancer, leaving her family inconsolable. On January 17, Tony and Angela attended a funeral ceremony together at St. Columba’s Church in Huyton. His demise, according to the family, was caused by a broken heart following the devastating cancer diagnosis for his daughter.
Beverley continued by paying respect to her sister: “Angela was genuinely one of the most kind individuals; she had a lovely soul. Nobody was able to criticise her. She was pleasant, nice, hilarious, and only cared about her family.” In the end, the 47-year-old went to Marie Curie Hospice in Woolton Village in October, where she passed away on January 3 in the company of her loved ones. Together at TUI, Angela’s coworkers attended the funeral and created a guard of honour inside the church.
“She had nothing to want for thanks to the incredible hospice personnel who made her life as comfortable as possible as she neared death. That has been dreadful. We have a large family—I’m the youngest of four—two brothers, Angela, and we all need to be there for my mother. The family is currently attempting to have a plaque created in honour of Angela and Tony. Beverley paid tribute to Tony by calling him a “funny and hardworking” grandfather and father.
Added her: “A workaholic, he was. He was so humorous and honest, and he enjoyed his job. He was one of those gentlemen who would always lend a helping hand. He was a dedicated father and grandfather.””Everyone’s attention was on Angela when dad passed away because I had to go tell her in the hospice, which was horrible. She was devastated. All I wanted for Christmas was a pleasant one, she sobbed. It was quite depressing.”
In an effort to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer, the family also urged attendees to wear purple ribbons; £900 was donated in support of the cause. Says Beverley: “Everyone who visited Angela and the hospice workers unanimously remarked on how respectable she was. She was simply incredible. She never voiced complaints and moved on.
As Angela complained of abdominal pain and a sudden loss of weight, doctors first thought she had a hernia. Angela underwent chemotherapy before being informed that her pancreatic cancer was terminal, although it was later discovered to be the cause of this.
Beverley Jeffreys, Beverley Jeffreys’ daughter, stated to the Liverpool Echo: “He simply couldn’t see her pass away, so we kind of think he passed away from a broken heart. We like to find solace in the fact that he passed away before her because he was too weak to continue.”
While prepared to spend her final Christmas with her family, Huyton resident Angela Courtney learned the heartbreaking news of her father Tony’s passing at work. After numerous trips to the doctor, she was given the terrible prognosis in January of last year.
Three weeks before Angela lost her fight with pancreatic cancer on January 3 due to a heart attack on December 14, Tony, an electrician, also passed away. While Tony, a TUI air hostess, leaves behind his wife Christine Courtney, 68, and three children Tony, 49, Bootsy, and Beverley, 43, Angela, a TUI air hostess, leaves behind her husband John and her six-year-old son Jonny.New Zealand’s Auckland is where Tui was born. At Manurewa, New Zealand, he was raised. Tui wed Liyah in 2002. He has four kids total, including identical twin sons.
