Who is Glenn Howerton?

Glenn Howerton III is a well-known American actor, screenwriter, producer, and podcaster. He was born on April 13, 1976 in the United States. He is most recognised for his role as Dennis Reynolds on the long-running dark satire comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia  on FX and FXX. He is also an executive producer and writer for the show, which he co-created with Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney.

Alongside his fellow co-creators McElhenney and Day, he has been a co-host of The Always Sunny Podcast ever since it debuted in November 2021. Glenn Franklin Howerton III, the son of American parents Janice and Glenn Franklin Howerton Jr., was born on April 13, 1976 in Japan. He is known by his full name, Glenn Franklin Howerton III. His father had a career as a combat pilot.  His family relocated almost quickly after his birth, first to Arizona and then, for a time, to New Mexico, where they lived there briefly.

They made the journey to the town of Felixstowe, which is located in Suffolk, England, when he was three years old. After that, they relocated to Virginia, and then after that, to South Korea, where they finally made their home in Seoul. The move took place when he was 10 years old, and they settled in Montgomery, Alabama. In the year 2002, Howerton portrayed the role of Corey Howard on the television show That ’80s Show.

After that, he had a recurring role on ER as Dr. Nick Cooper in the year 2003. Must Love Dog, Serenity, Two Weeks, and The Strangers all featured him in supporting capacities to a lesser extent. In addition, he had a role as a physician in the film Crank, which he also played in the sequel to that film, Crank: High Voltage . His next major television role came in 2018 on the NBC single-camera comedy A.P. Bio, which was created by Mike O’Brien.

In this role, he portrayed Jack Griffin, an arrogant Harvard philosophy professor whose fall from grace had forced him to get a job teaching biology to high school students in his hometown of Toledo. At the same time, he was plotting to exact revenge on his adversary and restore his career.

After airing for two seasons on NBC, the show was ultimately cancelled, but it was then picked up by Peacock, which is NBC’s streaming service, where it continued airing for another two seasons. It was officially cancelled for good in December of 2021.  In October of 2022, it was revealed that he would be lending his voice to the character of Fred Jones in the forthcoming animated series Velma on HBO Max.

To coincide with the release of the record-breaking season 15 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Day, McElhenney, and Howerton launched The Always Sunny Podcast in November 2021. This was a weekly show that was loosely based on the rewatch format of podcasting, which had grown in popularity over the past few years. The Always Sunny Podcast was created to coincide with the release of the show’s 15th season.

They issued Four Walls Whiskey in June of 2022, with the intention of donating the whole profit from the sale of the 15-year single-malt Irish whisky to the Pennsylvania hospitality industry, which had suffered significant damage as a result of the pandemic.

Howerton is perhaps most recognised for his role as Dennis Reynolds, the extremely egotistical and anti-social bartender of Paddy’s Pub, which he played on the FX sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Reynolds is one of the primary characters on the show. Along with Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito, he was one of the co-creators of the series, along with Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day.

All three of them currently act as executive producers, writers, and main cast members on the show. Additionally, as of the fourteenth season, he has directed two episodes. Always Sunny entered the record books as the show with the longest-running live-action American comedy series ever when it premiered its fifteenth season in December of 2021.

In 2008, Howerton, Day, McElhenney, and writing assistant Adam Stein collaborated on the creation of the science fiction comedy Boldly Going Nowhere. Unfortunately, the pilot episode was never produced. In addition, he has served as a producer on a variety of projects, including How to Be a Gentleman, Unsupervised, and The Cool Kids, which were all developed by other Always Sunny cast members and crew members, such as David Hornsby. Howerton was also known for his work in the voice acting industry, which included a recurrent role as Ernie Krinklesac on The Cleveland Show.

In 2013, he got the role of Will in the CollegeHumor comedy film Coffee Town, alongside co-stars Steve Little and Ben Schwartz. This was his first time playing the lead role in a movie. Soon after that, he landed recurring roles on the Fox comedy series The Mindy Project as Cliff Gilbert, the divorce lawyer who was introduced in season 2 as one of Mindy’s love interests; on the critically-acclaimed first season of the FX dark comedy series Fargo  as Don Chumph; and on the Showtime comedy-drama series House of Lies  starring Don Cheadle in its final season as the young mayoral candidate Seth Buckley  Howerton also had a supporting role in the Netflix original movie Officer Downe, in which Kim Coates starred. His character, Dominic, was involved in the sale and distribution of firearms.

After receiving his diploma from Jefferson Davis High School, he relocated to Miami and enrolled in the New World School of the Arts of Miami Dade College. He studied there for a total of two years. In 1996, he enrolled in the Drama Division of Juilliard School, which is located in New York City. In Group 29, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree after completing his studies there.

Other notable roles he has played include Jack Griffin, the lead role on NBC’s A.P. Bio, Cliff Gilbert on Fox’s The Mindy Project, Don Chumph on the first season of FX’s Fargo, and Corey Howard, the lead role on the short-lived spin-off comedy That ’80s Show. His other notable performances include these roles. Additionally, he provides the voice of Fred Jones for the HBO Max series Velma.
