Who is Gabrielle Reece?
Gabrielle Reece, an American professional volleyball player, sportscaster, model, and actress, was born on January 6, 1970. Reece was the only child of Terry Glynn and Robert Eduardo Reece. He was born in La Jolla, California, and raised in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. When Gabrielle was five years old, her Trinidadian father perished in a plane accident. For her eleventh grade year, she moved back to the mainland and enrolled at Keswick Christian School in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she started playing sports.
She majored in communications at Florida State University and earned a volleyball scholarship. She led the league in kills and blocks four times during her time there. In addition, Reece established two volleyball school records for solo blocks and overall blocks, both of which are still in effect. She relocated to New York City in 1989 to more actively pursue both a parallel career as a sports fashion model and her pro volleyball career. In 1997, Florida State University honoured Reece by inducting him into the school’s athletic hall of fame. Reece spent several years playing professional volleyball tours after graduating. Reece served as the WBVL skills leader from 1993 to 1996 for a period of four years.
In 1994–1995, she was voted the Offensive Player of the Year, and in 1993, she led the league in blocks. She also participated in domestic competitions such as the 1999–2000 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and the Olympic Challenge Series. In the late 1980s and the early 1990s, she was featured in a number of Elle layouts. She has graced the covers of Life, Elle, Women’s Sports & Fitness, Outside, Shape, and Women’s Sports & Fitness.
Previously, Reece appeared as herself in a cameo in the HBO series Arliss, where she scolded her agency for even suggesting that she accept a request to pose nude for Playboy. Reece was a playable character and the cover model for the video game Power Spike: Pro Beach Volleyball, which was released in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, PlayStation, and Windows.
Along with fitness guru Paul Chek, Reece co-produced an infomercial for the “The Primal System” health and fitness product and hosted Insider Training for Fit TV/Discovery, where she spoke with professional athletes about their training and conditioning routines. Reece and her husband Laird Hamilton worked on the 2017 series XPT:The Experience for Outside TV after hosting NBC’s S.T.R.O.N.G. in 2016.
Reece was undoubtedly aware that her husband was one of the “wildest and freest people on the planet.” “I don’t see why you would go towards that, like Laird just placed me on a ski in front of a wave that’s like 60 feet,” Reece said while accompanying Hamilton on numerous spine-tingling adventures. There comes a point when you think, “Okay,” similar to when he’s operating the ski while you’re on the back. and as you turn, you notice a six-story structure moving behind you. Hamilton and Reece recently commemorated 25 years of marriage
. The couple is very active on social media, sharing details of their relationship with followers. She revealed her side of the tale during the interview, saying, “I believe the pursuit and they have to wait a lot that’s the other thing, these things don’t come around that frequently… there’s a little bit of suffering that goes on.”
She appeared as a guest star on the drama series 8 Simple Rules and North Shore in 2004. Additionally, she made guest appearances on The Tyra Banks Show, America’s Next Top Model, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. She made an appearance as herself in a Billions episode in 2022. Together with fitness guru Mike Monroe, she published Gabrielle Reece: Fit & Healthy Prenatal Workouts in 2008. Reece represented the Simply Nutrilite brand in 2008 as its spokeswoman.
To be authentically feminine, Reece writes in her April 2013 book My Foot Is Too Big for the Glass Slipper: A Guide to the Less Than Perfect Life, “means being soft, responsive, and – look out, here it comes – submissive.” In an appearance with The Today Show on April 16, she went on to elaborate on her argument by stating that she thinks women being submissive in relationships is a sign of strength, not weakness. I don’t know where we got the concept that we should have it all because we don’t worry about having it all.
Extreme Performance Training, often known as XPT Life, was founded by Laird Hamilton and Gabrielle Reece. The Laird Superfood company, which Laird Hamilton and Gabrielle Reece started in 2015 with Paul Hodge, was introduced to Wall Street in September 2020.
