Irish actress Fiona Shaw CBE has appeared in movies and plays. She was born Fiona Mary Wilson on July 10, 1958. She gained notoriety for playing Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter film series. Marnie Stonebrook in the HBO series True Blood’s fourth season. and Carolyn Martens in the BBC series Killing Eve. Shaw, the daughter of scientist Mary T. Wilson and ophthalmologist Denis Joseph Wilson  who married in 1952, was born Fiona Mary Wilson on July 10, 1958 in Cobh, County Cork.

Shaw and Deborah Warner worked together once more in 2009 when Shaw played the title character in Tony Kushner’s adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children. Denis Wilson, Shaw’s father, played rugby while attending University College Cork to study medicine. Before beginning his study as an ophthalmologist at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in 1960, he briefly worked as a general practitioner in London.

When he arrived back in Cork, he was hired at the Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital, where he remained until retiring, when the eye unit was moved to Cork University Hospital. He was a professor at RCSI and UCC. His history of the Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital, De Iron Trote, was written after he retired. He also pursued his passion in the arts by enrolling in UCC’s Diploma in Art History programme.
